Oldham Loop: The End Of An Era
On the 3rd of October 2009 146 years of railway services on the Oldham Loop route ended.
The railway line had survived threats of closure and had served the communities of Rochdale, Milnrow, Newhey, Shaw and Crompton, Royton Junction, Derker, Oldham, Werneth, Failsworth, Hollinwood, Dean Lane (Newton Heath) and, by its branch, Royton for travel to work, leisure and of course Wakes Weeks.
STORM will commemorate the passing of this historical rail route with a booklet to be published next year.
If you have memories, good bad or indifferent, we would love to know them.
Please send them, and any ‘scanned’ photos to info@stormrail.info
